Complete Circuit
Two clues working an
old puzzle. Peace is
elusive prey. I set traps,
they caught whispers.
Sewn fate, our lock
and key. I ain’t know
how severely I needed
you. Options and corridors
began shrinking, I was
stunned. Cut. Coping.
I ate molly, smoked leak,
drank moonshine. No gasoline,
plenty crocodile teeth.
Sour treatment. Couldn’t
afford a ticket off this
rock, I figured I might
as well pad the blade.
Cruel storm’s really here.
Inequality and lightning.
Climate crisis one karma.
Hope against probability.
We have us and that’s
a sunrise. We’re a summer
breeze. We’ll light our own.
Both born snared, wings
came rarely, we couldn’t
sleep. Some days under
this repulsive ceiling,
we’re trampled by
elephant feet. Microscopic
box, macro inferno.
Natural strive. A July
night, the sky is black,
it’s late. Me and you
sit on the roof. Air
helps some. We think
and watch passenger spaceships
fly one way. A dream
leaves. Somehow we
sneak away from pessimism.
No better place than together.
