Ask Again Later
I knew that the city of seven hills
was conquered at least seven times
that’s not even counting when
Rome’s own emperor
burned it to the ground
which sounds kind of like
a self conquest to me
anyway today I learned that Baghdad
the city of peace
happens to be the place
that throughout world history
has been attacked more than any other
I wanted to go further down
this historical rabbit hole
by looking into falls of entire nations
I couldn’t find a straight answer for
how many times Egypt has been conquered
I assumed it must be a bunch
one source I saw said it was fourteen times
but before I could research more
a lady I know asked me
if I could ask god anything
what would my first question be
I’ve never thought much about that
I started to wonder what I would ask
a room full of the smartest living humans
if I was only allowed to ask them
one question
I guess in either scenario
I’d want to know
when will we all stop looking at each other
and seeing targets
